When a property owner in Caistor Centre needed a full septic system replacement to support a new build, Back Country was brought in to handle the job start to finish. The project involved removing the existing septic system and installing a larger one — sized for the added load of an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) — with a leaching bed built to work in the property’s hard clay soil.
The Work
Back Country pulled the old septic system, set the new tank, and built out an expanded leaching bed on site. Because the ground here is hard clay, which drains slowly, the bed had to be sized larger to move water properly and meet code. One crew handled the whole job — demolition of the old system, excavation, and the new install — keeping the work coordinated and on schedule.
Why It Matters
A septic system is only as good as the ground it’s built in. Hard clay soil doesn’t drain like sand or loam, so a system that isn’t sized and built for the conditions will back up or fail early. Getting the excavation, tank, and bed right the first time is what keeps a property running for years — especially when you’re adding load with a second dwelling.
