Celebrating 10 years of back country

Front Walkway & Step Replacement | Burlington, Ontario

When a homeowner in Burlington wanted to replace the worn concrete steps at their front entrance, Back Country was brought in to take out the old steps and build a new walkway and step in their place.

The project involved removing the existing concrete steps and installing an interlocking paver walkway and step. The dark border and step caps give the entrance a clean, finished look.

The Work

Back Country broke out and hauled away the old concrete steps, then excavated and prepared the base for the new install. The crew built a new paver walkway leading up to the front door, with a wide step and a landing at the entrance. The dark border pavers frame the walkway and cap the step edges, which ties the new entrance into the brick on the house.

The Back Country Difference:

A walkway only lasts as long as what’s underneath it. Pavers laid on a poorly prepared base will shift, sink, and heave through Ontario freeze-thaw cycles, and a step that settles becomes a tripping hazard. Taking out the old concrete properly and building a compacted base with the right depth is what keeps a new entrance level and solid for years. Anyone can lay pavers. The groundwork is what makes them last.
